AMC confirmed season 2, but is it worth looking forward to?
If you read my last article about NOS4A2, which looked ahead to the finale, then you know that I had my reservations. The whole season fell a little flat for me as I anticipated a dark, intense thriller. Each episode, however, did not live up to my expectations.
This past Sunday was the two-hour season finale that needed to deliver if it wanted to keep viewers interested in a second season. With that said, let's take a look at what happened in the final episode. Spoilers ahead.
The episode starts with Vic's boyfriend Craig grabbing his bat and going after Bing in order to protect his girlfriend. However, things don't go his way and he winds up getting captured by Charlie. After Bing explains to Charlie that the boy is Vic's lover, Charlie decides that Vic has to die and sets off after her with a new kidnapped and changed boy with him.
Vic winds up at Charlie's old house and almost dies when Charlie sets it on fire. After Vic escapes she gets help from a stranger named Lou who decides to help her fight against Charlie. Vic sets Charlie's car on fire but unfortunately, the car explodes with Craig inside killing him. Charlie falls into a coma because of the destruction of his Wraith and Vic finds out while in the hospital that she is pregnant.
At Craig's funeral, Vic is contemplating her future and has a final goodbye with Maggie, at least for now, before we fast forward six months. Vic now seems to be staying in Colorado where the location of Christmasland may be and living with Lou. She hears voices of the vampire kids calling her to bring them food which means of course that the story isn't over. Charlie Manx's car is seen in a shop where a mechanic begins to restore it, thus bringing Charlie back to life. As for Bing, he escaped and works for a children's dentist.
That was everything in a nutshell, and a lot definitely happened to set up what could be an interesting and hopefully better second season. AMC confirmed that season two will happen but I think we need more horror themes from what positioned itself as a horror show.
More Vampire kids, more Charlie Manx and more of what it means to be a Creative. With Vic now pregnant, I'm sure that the show will jump ahead in time and will most likely feature Charlie trying to steal Vic's child away from her in an attempt to destroy Vic. I don't know much about the book but I do know that the show only covered about a third of it which hopefully means that the best is yet to come.
