Luke Perry became a Hollywood Icon in the early 1990's thanks to his role as Dylan McKay on the mega-hit show Beverly Hills, 90210. He quickly rose to fame because of the success of the show and became a teen idol heartthrob.
Perry was born in Mansfield, Ohio and moved to Los Angeles after high school to pursue acting. He stated once in an interview that he auditioned for 215 roles before landing his first gig. He has appeared in commercials, music videos, and daytime soaps before landing what would be his claim to fame as Dylan McKay.
Luke Perry is no stranger to the big screen either with his most memorable role being Pike in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie in 1992. This cult classic would pave the way for the hit tv series that debuted on Fox in 1997.
Perry would once again find big success on the hit tv show Riverdale playing Fred Andrews, Archie's father. He will also appear in Quentin Tarantino's next film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
As fans of entertainment, whether it be movies, tv shows, etc., we can't help be feel sad when a celebrity dies. Some people question it, and even though I agree that sometimes we invest too much into the lives of celebrities, there are those that we can't help but connect to.
Why? Because we grow up with them. We watch their shows and their movies. We connect to the characters that they help create. We invest in the stories that they help to tell. Sometimes it feels like someone that's close to us has passed on even though we never knew them personally.
Luke Perry is one of those celebrities that will stick with us forever because of those reasons.
R.I.P. Luke Perry
