Depression: 20 celebrities who have lived (and died) with it

Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah is well known as a hilarious pundit, renowned for his presence at The Daily Show. Still, In an interview with DJ Fresh on Metro FM’s Breakfast Show he had opened up on his battle with depression when he was starting his career in comedy.

Noah had said, "I think we have a misconception of what it is. So when they say you suffer from depression people think you’re saying you’re just sad all the time. You’re not sad. You know what depression is? Essentially, it will be a chemical thing in your brain where you perceive what is happening to you now to be happening to you forever."

He also added, "So if you’re having a bad day now or you’re having a bad moment, in your mind you go, ‘it’s forever’. And then you don’t want to wake up, you don’t want to work, you don’t want to live, you don’t want to do anything. It’s like its one of those things where you just deal with it."

The way he got his depression out of the way was finding purpose in his work, "Funny enough, one of the best things that helps depression is work, and socialising with other people and connecting. Because when you work you find purpose," according to Channel 24.
