Taylor Swift: Words Impact Worlds

Stepping Right Out in Front for #MeToo

Taylor Swift was a vocal part of the #MeToo movement, which highlighted sexual harassment and assault in the entertainment industry.

In 2014, she was sued by a DJ she reported to his radio station for groping her, and the resulting internal investigation led to his firing.

She countersued and won, and was later interviewed by TIME about her time in court, in which she refused to be made to feel guilty: “This man hadn’t considered any formalities when he assaulted me, and his lawyer didn’t hold back on my mom [who had earlier testified]—why should I be polite?”
