7. Fences (Pittsburgh)
A movie starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, as Troy Maxson lives with his wife Rose, came out in 2016.
The story is about a working-class African American family in the 1950s. Denzel’s a father trying to come to terms with his own life, having missed the chance to become a professional baseball player and is now stuck as a garbage collector.
Troy also cares for his brother who was hurt during the war and is having an affair to which he gets his girlfriend pregnant.
Add in excessive drinking and a money-grubbing son, Tory's from a previous relationship, and the drama and stress never end.
Things get worse when Troy punishes his son and refuses to allow him the opportunity to meet a football recruiter, forcing him to keep a job at the local grocery store.
Denzel Washington directs the adaptation of the play Fences written by August Wilson, who also wrote the screenplay.
