Shortly after marrying in 2016, actor Shia LaBeouf and wife Mia Goth are filing for divorce.
A representative for the Daytime Emmy Award winner Shia LaBeouf stated, “Shia and Mia have filed for divorce. The separation is amicable and all details pertaining to the divorce proceedings will remain private.”
This statement comes shortly after the actor was seen with British singer FKA Twigs in London. Twigs was previously engaged to Robert Patterson, who also previously dated Mia Goth.
LaBeouf and Goth met on the set of the European two-part art film Nymphomaniac. They dated for four years and ultimately got married in Las Vegas in 2016. The wedding was live-streamed and officiated by an Elvis impersonator in October. Although, Clark County Nevada's official Twitter account did state that there were no records that showed a marriage license for the newlyweds a "commitment ceremony" did take place.
On an appearance for the Ellen Show, LaBeouf confirmed that he and Goth did, in fact, tie the knot. He stated:
"The plan was for it to be a private deal, but… part of the package, the King Tut package, you get a live stream for free ... part of the deal," LaBeouf explained. "And I said, 'You know, we don't really need that as a matter of fact. We'll just take our private tape. We got our moms there and they said, 'No problem.' We get back home and it's like, woah, hey listen, something changed!"
He continued by saying, "I call them up and they said somebody pressed the wrong button that sends the video to TMZ. I said, I understood. I checked with my girl and she said, 'Hey, what are you gonna do,' and you know, it's love. We're proud of it. It was love."
Representatives from LaBeouf and Goth's have made no further comments.
