Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War. It’s been a few months, but you can never be too careful.
Infinity War tore a lot of holes in our roster of heroes and left our survivors pretty helpless, but now we know the broad outlines of the still-untitled Avengers 4.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke to io9 about our heroes picking up the pieces after the Thanos snap:
“I think for a film series that is going on 10 years and is gearing towards a conclusion with Avengers 4, which you don’t usually have in these kinds of movies, you can sort of do the math…And realize it’s the original Avengers that are left.”
Audience members have made that deduction, but here is confirmation that our original team will band together to save the universe again. The original Avengers were split every which way over the past six years since their first movie: Captain America is in hiding to avoid imprisonment for treason after the events of Civil War; the Hulk spent years on Sakaar as a fighting champion; and Black Widow got a haircut (by the way, did we ever get an answer for that? Also, where’s our Widow movie?)
A Stitch in Time
Also worth mentioning is that a year ago, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal revealed to Fandom that the Spider-Man sequel, Far From Home, would take place sooner after Infinity War than we thought:
"What I think we should focus on is this Spider-Man who started in Civil War and then has this movie, and then will be in the Avengers movie. And we are starting now the next one which will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story.”
That’s a very fast turnaround for our web-slinging superhero to pick up after the death of half the universe. Then again, anything’s possible with that Time Infinity Stone.
