Country star Luke Bryan confirmed as second judge on 'American Idol'

Auditions are set to begin for American Idol in early October, and one judge seat remains to be filled. It has been confirmed that Luke Bryan will be joining Katy Perry for this new iteration of the series that will air on ABC sometime next year, likely in early March.

Variety confirmed that there will be three judges, not four, for the upcoming season of American Idol.

There are speculations going out as to who may join this pair as the third judge including Keith Urban and Charlie Puth.  Lionel Richie was reported to have previously been in the running, but no longer seems to be in play at this time.

The original host of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest will be returning to the show.

While it has been reported that Katy Perry will receive a salary of $25 million, specifics related to Bryan’s contract have not yet been revealed.

The CMT Performance of the Year (2017) has been a rising star in country music since his debut in 2007.  His last three releases debuted as number one on Billboard’s Top Country Album charts.
